Once you’ve taken photos with PogoCam and offloaded them to the smart case, you’ll want to check them out on a device. You want the free PogoCam app, available for iOS and Android. Here is how it all works in a quick video and a longer explanation below.
There are four main functions of the PogoCam app:
- View your battery and storage status
- Download photos to your phone or tablet
- Clear photos and videos off your smart case
- Adjust the alignment of photos
Once you install the app and open it, you’ll be walked through a simple step-by-step setup to pair the app with your smart case. To get a headstart on this, make sure your phone or tablet’s Bluetooth® feature is turned on and open to discover new Bluetooth devices.
Once paired, the app will open to the Gallery (which is empty of course). Along the bottom of the app, you’ll see 3 simple menu items: Gallery, Smart Case, and Options.
The first thing you’ll want to do is go to the Smart Case screen. Here, you’ll see if your case is successfully paired. On this screen, the app will display the battery status of PogoCam and smart case. It will also show you how many photos and videos are stored on the case. Below this information, is a big blue button that reads:
"Select photos to download"
Tap it. You’ll see a gallery with your photos and videos in it. Here you can select photos one-at-a-time (up to 20 photos) to transfer to your phone via Bluetooth. Once you select a photo (or many), a blue button appears at the bottom of the screen. On the left, you’ll see “Download to Gallery.” On the right, “Delete.” Tap the Download side. The app will show you the progress of downloading your photos. Once downloaded, you can view them in the Gallery.
Two things to remember:
- The app limits you to 20 photos at a time when transferring to the app. If you have a lot of photos that you want to transfer all at once, you'll want to use a wired connection to a computer. (Bluetooth is convenient but it can be a bit slow with a lot of files.)
- You will need to transfer videos with a wired connection.
Back on the Gallery screen, you’ll see a standard gallery of your photos. Tap on one. For each photo, you have three additional choices.
The garbage can deletes that single photo, as you might have guessed.
You’ve probably seen this everywhere. If you don’t know, it is the “Share” icon. Tap it to share this photo on any or all the social networks you would like. Tap it to email the photo; tap it to send it in a text message.
This is the adjustment icon. There isn’t a lot of editing you can do in the PogoCam app. Most likely, you already edit your photos with filters on Instagram or add titles in iMovie. We don’t want to limit how you edit your media, just like we don’t want to limit where you share it. So on the PogoCam app, “Adjust” is there to address one particular PogoCam feature: adjusting the alignment of a photo. Click this edit icon and slide the bar at the bottom to adjust its alignment. That’s it!
The Options screen is your Swiss Army knife to all things PogoCam. Firstly, it’s a shortcut to delete all the media on your smart case which is super helpful for cleaning house and getting ready for your next adventure.
The app is designed just like all PogoCam products: to give you the maximum amount of freedom and options and the fewest limitations. If you’ve got any questions about using the case and app, let us know by dropping an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
